Learning how to cook diabetes-friendly meals that can transform health and wellbeing.

WELLfed, in collaboration with Te Wāhi Tiaki Tātou and a network of community health providers, launched a Diabetes-Friendly Cooking & Education Programme.

About this Diabetes-Friendly Cooking & Education Programme

This initiative was born from the Reimagining Living with Long-Term Diabetes workshops and aimed to empower individuals diagnosed with pre-diabetes or Type 2 diabetes.

A Recipe for Health & Wellbeing

This programme provides a supportive space to understand and manage diabetes.

Small Steps, Big Changes

Aligning with this programme supports community-driven health improvements and long-term wellbeing.

Health Starts in the Kitchen

The programme empowers participants to take control of their health through food and education.

Our Approach

The programme combined hands-on cooking sessions with in-depth education, equipping participants with practical tools to manage their health through nutrition and lifestyle changes. Led by Petrina Benny-Turner, an experienced registered nurse, this initiative fostered community, confidence, and long-term health improvements.

Together, We Can Make a Difference
