Porirua Community Leaders’ Forum

The forum brings people from across our city together to learn, listen and deliberate on our changing world. Grounded in community voices, it empowers everyday people to shape shared solutions for Porirua, now and for future generations.

Community-Led Direction

Established in 2021, the Porirua Community Leaders’ Forum strengthens local connections and provides a shared space for community-led action across Porirua. It brings together leaders from iwi, community, Pacific, migrant, business, education, and social sectors to identify shared priorities and coordinate collective impact for our city.

The Forum holds stewardship of the Porirua Assembly, ensuring community voice remains at the centre and that decisions about Porirua are shaped by Porirua, for Porirua. The kaupapa is coordinated by Te Wāhi Tiaki Tātou.

Membership

Membership of the Forum is open. Leadership in this context is relational rather than positional. A community leader is anyone who holds connection, trust, and influence within a collective, and who is able to represent that group and contribute to shared learning and action. You can join the forum by emailing Porirua.Assembly@ngatitoa.iwi.nz

Next Hui

Porirua Community Leaders’ Forum Updates

MARCH 2026

At the Porirua Community Leaders’ Forum in March. Leaders from across our community came together to agree on the priority areas that will guide our shared focus moving forward. These priorities reflect what we have heard consistently across our communities and where working together will have the greatest impact for whānau.

The agreed priority areas are:

  • Renewable Energy

  • Community Resilience

  • Kai Security

  • Rangatahi Resilience

  • Wai (including our harbour)

  • Housing (homelessness - social housing)

  • Drug Harm

While Te Wāhi Tiaki Tātou supports coordination, this kaupapa belongs to all of us! Read the minutes from the hui below.
