Wellington Region Fruit and Vege Co-op
Launched in 2014 to tackle debt and food security in Porirua, the Wellington Fruit and Vege Co-op is a collaboration between Wesley Community Action and Te Whatu Ora. Partnering with MG Fresh Produce Group, a grower co-operative, the co-op buys distributes fresh fruit and vegetables to 1,700 households across the Wellington Region.
Te Umu ki Rangituhi - Food Security and Food Rescue
Te Umu ki Rangituhi runs three different services. A social supermarket, Pātaka kai, which provide kai parcels out to whānau and food rescue, stopping good kai from going to waste and redistributing it to people experiencing food insecurity.
Harbour Accord
The Accord brings together Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira, Porirua City Council, Greater Wellington Regional Council, Wellington City Council, and Wellington Water Limited, alongside stakeholders, community groups, and organisations dedicated to improving the harbour’s health.
Porirua Harbour Trust
The Porirua Harbour Trust is an independent organisation made up of dedicated community members that advocates for the wellbeing of Te Awarua o Porirua.
Kids Enhancing Tawa Ecosystems
Established in 2021, the Kids Enhancing Tawa Ecosystems (KETE) initiative was designed to address climate anxiety among young people.
